About Sam’s Club

The “Sam” in the Sam’s Club eye care brand refers to Samuel Walton. He may be more famous for founding Wal-Mart, which made him, at least for a time, the richest man in America.

But Sam’s Club is famous as well, and it all began in 1983. By 2019, it was doing $57.8 billion in sales. AS of now (2022), there are about 600 membership Sam’s Club locations, in 44 states across the entire US.

Membership is usually required to buy stuff at Sam’s Club (it is a club, after all), but that’s not necessary when you’re out for an eye exam in Optical. In that case, the prices are almost unbelievably low.

Even the tests that include the vision field test and the contact lens fitting are usually much more affordable than the basic eye tests elsewhere. Just keep in mind, however, that prices vary depending on location.

At many of these Sam’s Club locations, the Optical Center also has a practicing independent doctor of optometry. Just contact the doctor at the local Sam’s Club so you can schedule an eye exam.

Usually, the Optical Center is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 10AM to 7PM. Sunday hours are more variable depending on the location, but it’s not uncommon for the Optical Center to be open from noon to 5PM.

With your Sam’s Club membership, you can then enjoy the wide variety of frames and contact lenses available here. The lens styles are all highly advanced, as they’re digitally surfaced. They’re anti-reflective, scratch-resistant, smudge-proof, and even water-repellant.

You can opt for a progressive lens for a wider field of vision, and crisp visual acuity. You can also go with fashionable sunglasses in prescription polarized version, with 100% UV protection. Your purchases also come with a 30-day hassle-free return or exchange policy.
